Dear MIACADA Members,

I am truly honored to share my thoughts in the 2024-2025 President’s Letter. Having been a member of MIACADA for 16 years, I have had the privilege of connecting with many exceptional academic advisors throughout our state and region. Your support has played a vital role in my growth as both an advisor and a leader. The insights I’ve gained inform my work with students, assist me in my role as an advisor, and will shape my approach as your current President.

Academic advising is essential to fostering student success in higher education. As Michigan invests in education through grants and scholarships and as colleges and universities introduce new programs to support emerging careers, our roles as advisors become increasingly complex. Building connections with fellow advisors is crucial; without these relationships, we miss the chance to share ideas and support each other as we navigate the evolution of our profession.

MIACADA is dedicated to connecting advisors across our state, offering professional development, networking opportunities, and a platform for exchanging ideas related to academic advising. I look forward to collaborating with the Board to create opportunities that promote both your professional growth and personal development.

I’m excited to announce that the 2025 MIACADA Annual Conference will be hosted at Michigan State University in Lansing, MI. This venue is perfect for fostering connections within our advising community during the various planned events. We will also continue our popular Talk About It Tuesday series and MIACADA Meet-Ups, which have been fantastic for bringing us together both online and in person.

We’re always eager to explore new ways to enhance our connections. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to any Board members with your ideas, questions, or feedback. We value your input and would love to hear from you! I look forward to connecting with you soon and wish you a successful academic year ahead.

Warm regards,

Erin Busscher

MIACADA President
